Ever wondered what it was like to drive in a '57 Chevrolet ?

As they say in the song "They don't build cars like they used to !"

Imagine the long, soft bench seats, the tall chrome fins and that big, big "V8" engine. That was 50's Rock & Roll style at it's best !

Grasp a unique opportunity to arrive in style at that very special occasion - your wedding, a birthday party, an anniversary or just a surprise.

What's Under the Hood Ain't What I Thought I Bought !

1996, a good year for cars, particularly because we bought our 1957 Chevrolet 210, 4 door Sedan that year. We had no idea whatsoever about the car except we loved its looks, - all that expanse of chrome, the enormous bench seats and the wonderful tail fins, but looks are only skin deep as they say. The fact that I could get it sideways in a heartbeat should have given the game away, but going from a tiny 8 hp, sidevalve, up-right Ford to the huge V8 Chevy, I suppose I could be forgiven for thinking all American cars did this!

What's This For ?

Over the next few months our voyage of discovery took us to many a head scratching location - like, do they fit disc brakes to all 57 Chevy's, or - why is there a valve at the back of the car connected to the shock absorbers? Even the engine, as we were to find out, was not the 283cu.in originally fitted, but a 350cu.in rebuilt to a LT1 specification. And to complement the engine a Turbo 350 transmission had also been fitted to get the power, and believe me there is a s**t load of that rattling down the prop shaft to the wheels.

Since buying the car we have spent a small fortune on chrome from Bow Tie Chevys in Orlando (who I recommend) and bodywork/mechanicals with Reality Hotrods (who I also recommend).

Gony' be ma Pal ?

Probably the best part of owning the Chevy is all the friends we have made, who are of a kindred spirit. When I was recovering from my "injury" these were the friends that were very understanding when I would "loose my cool" over the tiniest thing, so to repay all their kindness I joined their club - the Ill-Eagle ac Scotland.

Barbara and I have to say that there are a number of clubs out there that would do well to take a long hard look at the way this club does it. The club may not be big, but in our opinion, it has the right attitude - love it for what it is, not for what it might be.

When we bought our Chevy we just wanted a cool looking car, well we got that and more.

Come see what I've got planned this winter
